Thousands of children are waiting for the solidarity and the economic help to access one of the most fundamental rights: Education.

According to studies, the lack of education in a child's life results in a 20% loss of income in their adult life. Completing 10 or more years of studies, mainly at a high school level, results in an 80% probability of that child not falling into poverty. For this reason, in the year 2000, the Minuto de Dios started a sponsorship Project called Godparents Program. This project allows persons, like you, to offer the necessary support to children who do not attend an educational institution because of their family's socioeconomic situation and very low income.

Every child is entitled to an education, as the lack of education results in a life of poverty and desperation.     This is your opportunity to provide a child with an education, for the benefit of his future and the future of his family.

THE SPONSORSHIP PLAN

The sponsorship program proposes a plan to give needy children the ability to study. These children range from 3 months to 17 years of age.

The help offered by the plan covers:

1. Tuition fees

2. School supplies and uniforms.

3. In some cases, food and transportation are also covered according to the need.

Children are selected based on the following criteria:

-Family income

-Number of family members

-Disability of a family member

-Life conditions

THE RESULTS

Hundreds of children have been able to continue their studies.

•  100% of the children receive uniforms, shoes and school supplies.

•  During the program, 80% of parents attended training courses in human development.

•  40% of the families have improved their daily diet and have been able to start saving.

•  Youngsters that have finished high school are now receiving technical training.

•  20% of participating children were not previously enrolled in school.

•  40% of the children receive support for transportation and school lunch.
